While Randy washing, I was sewing. I havent done that in years. I have never had the time. It felt very satisfying to repair and reuse instead of throwing away something that really is perfectly useful. I actually have been enjoying much simpler things. I think that haveing a simpler life really suits me. I would love to have more of this type of time in my life.
Today we stumbled into an Ex-patriot, Mark, who has lived here for 1`4 years. He has a wonderful life and is thriving. I want to share more about him later. However it brings up the very real possibility that I may include living outside of America on a more regular basis. I could see spending my winters slowing down and living and exploring at this Central American pace. I can see actually being able to "retire" in a different sort of way. I couldn't see that happening the traditional American way. I have never worked long enough for an employer or set aside enough money through my business to make that a reality. I have always been putting it off. Now I feel touched or "called" in a way that I can actually help other people and myself at the same time. It feels very empowering. when I first moved to Boulder I had no friends and now I have many. Coming to Guatemala we had no friends and now we have many more, every where we stop. Its about being open and curious about what is happening in their life. We have honest curiosity and affection for these people and it comes right back, usually in far greater porportions. I feel so blessed.
I think that of all the lessons that I have learned on this adventure it is that there are friends around every corner. That warm and inviting campsites are always made availoable and that you don't have to know where they are in advance. By "knowing" it is a way limiting. Being receptive and curious is the key.
