"It is beautiful. Is this the front? What size and colors? Also the color of the t-shirt is important. Are then using a butterfly on the back? Where are we going to put: 2012 YOU Spring Service Rally Jamestown, Colorado"

A stranger in my own land and my best flying dream ever!

We got back to Colorado Tuesday night.  I got a ride to the bus station with the very generous help of David Sanchez who picked me up at 2:30 in the morning. The bus to Guatemala City left at about 2:45am. This was not the type of bus that I wrote about in my last post. There was only about 5 or 6 of us leaving the station that early in the morning. Plus this bus was no school bus, it was a big fancy bus with cushy reclining private seats. I felt very pampered.  David spoke to the driver's…

The Buses in Guatemala

Yesterday I spend 6 hours traveling from San Martin to San Marcos. What an experience I had.  First of all I had a fever, headache and congestion that required that I carry a roll of toilet paper to hack into every few minutes. I really felt bad for the people around me.  But then of course I probably got this cold-flu from someone else on a crowded bus.  These buses are old Blue Jay school buses from America that have been put out of service and sold down here. Some are brightly painted,…

Sewing & other observations

While Randy washing, I was sewing. I havent done that in years. I have never had the time. It felt very satisfying to repair and reuse instead of throwing away something that really is perfectly useful. I actually have been enjoying much simpler things. I think that haveing a simpler life really suits me. I would love to have more of this type of time in my…

Seriously Horsing Around

We finally left San Marcos after a couple of days of practice rides with and without all are equipment. Lots of lessons there especially around the packing and repacking of our bags on or pack horses' "Aquellos" (similar to saddle but made to haul gear). Getting them tight enough is key. We also gave away or mailed back about 1/3 of unnecessary gear to lighten the…

Glen - - Great to have you over, especially not knowing much at all about you - had no idea of your talents and forays in art !! I very much enjoyed our exchange! I will happily post my photo and follow your journey as soon as I purchase/set-up my new desktop mac = laptop recently crashed. Also will begin to spread the word/network this site. For the past 3+ years I have been unconventionally following my dreams [they continue to grow] and long for 'company' - so I am thrilled to find you/this site !!

I was "dating" Randy when he first got this horse journey idea - he said "too bad you're not available to travel" [I could have been] and I said "too bad you are not available to ask me to go".... I would have made it happen! Thus, I began re-studying spanish, which I KNOW will launch me into many interesting situations and adventures.

Safe and interesting travels my friend - I admire and take inspiration from your spirit!!

     In exchange - - Judi - - -
